Recertification

Recertification status and membership in the WorldatWork Society are maintained by earning 12 credits every three years.  You can earn credits through a wide variety of activities, including:

•    WorldatWork course, seminar, and conference attendance
•    Teaching, presenting, or speaking
•    WorldatWork or other HR professional membership
•    Work-related project leadership
•    Continuing education activities

Courses and programs offered by CWCG often include a note regarding pre-approval of the program toward recertification.

Below are examples of events/training/etc. that count toward recertification:

MEMBERSHIP

1.    Membership in WorldatWork  (one credit per year, maximum 3 credits)

2.    Membership in AWLP  (one credit per year, maximum 3 credits)

3.    Membership in compensation, benefits, work-life or rewards-related human resource organizations, local chapters, societies or formally recognized human resources groups other than WorldatWork or AWLP. Please use the full name of the association.
(.5 credit per membership, up to 1 credit per year, maximum 3 credits)

CONFERENCE

1.    Attendance at a WorldatWork or AWLP-sponsored conference or forum
Event(s) and dates attended. (.5 day = .5 credit, 1 day = 1 credit, Annual Conference = 2.5 credits)

2.    Attendance at a compensation, benefits,work-life or rewards-related conference or forum sponsored by a human resources organization, chapter, society or consortium of organization other than WorldatWork or AWLP.
List event(s) and dates attended. (1/2 day = .5 credit, 1 day or more = 1 credit per day, maximum 2.5 credits per event)

EDUCATION

1.    Attendance at a WorldatWork or AWLP-sponsored classroom or online course or symposium beyond those included for initial certification.
Events and dates. (2.5 day events with exam earn 2.5 credits; without exam, earns 2 credits. 1 credit per day of attendance. Online programs earn varying credit depending on the length of the program)

2.    Attendance at WorldatWork "Certification Institute." (5 credits per event)

3.    Attendance at a compensation, benefits, work-life or rewards-related educational seminar, symposium, workshop or other professional-development event sponsored by an organization other than WorldatWork or AWLP. This includes formal company training events related to total rewards management and/or participation in WorldatWork webinars when credit is not automatically posted to the recertification application.
List events and dates. (1 hour event=0.125 credit; ¼ day event=0.25 credit; ½ day event=0.5 credit. Events 1 day or more = 1 credit per day, maximum 2 credits per event.)

4.    Attendance at a compensation, benefits, work-life or rewards-related course of at least one semester (quarter) in duration, sponsored by a college or university.
List events and dates. (1 credit per "credit hour" as defined by the sponsoring college/university.)

5.    Preparing for WorldatWork courses or participation in a compensation, benefits, work-life or remuneration-related correspondence done by independent self-study sponsored by a college, university or other human resources organization that involves an examination measuring attainment of course objectives.
List events and dates. (.5 credit per course (exam))

PRESENTING

1.    Presenting a speech or conducting a conference/forum workshop for a WorldatWork-sponsored event.
Events and dates. (1 credit per event.)

2.    Active member of WorldatWork faculty.  (3 credits per year.)

3.    Teaching compensation, benefits, work-life or rewards-related seminars or courses sponsored by an accredited college or university. Each "course" may be counted once per calendar year in each three-year period, regardless of the number of times that the same course is actually taught.
List course(s) and dates. (1 credit per "credit hour" as defined by the sponsoring institution.)

4.    Presenting or conducting a compensation, benefits, work-life or rewards-related speech, seminar or workshop at a conference or training event sponsored by a human resources organization other than WorldatWork. This includes developing and/or conducting formal, in-company compensation, benefits or remuneration-related training events and presentations.
Each specific "in-company" presentation may be counted only once per calendar year for each three-year period regardless of the number of times the same presentation is actually made.
List events and dates. (.5 credit per event for presenting OR developing. 1 credit per event for presenting AND developing.)

WRITING

1.    Publishing a text or other professionally relevant work as the sole author or co-author.
List title, publisher and publication date. (4 credits per work.)

2.    Contributing an article or chapter to a published work as an author or co-author, or a significant contribution in developing a WorldatWork seminar.
List title, publisher and publication date. (2 credits per work.)

PROJECTS

1.    Submit a brief summary that documents a major project completed on the job as well as date(s) of activity. In the spirit of WorldatWork's recertification program, each "recurring" project should be counted only once per three-year period.
Please list the project title and date of project. (1 credit per project, up to 2 credits per year; maximum 6 credits)

LEADERSHIP

1.    For each year as a member of a WorldatWork Board, Committee or Advisory Board.
Office(s) held and dates (1 credit per year of service in each capacity)

2    For each year of service as an officer/committee member of a local compensation, benefits, work-life or rewards-related organization/association/chapter other than WorldatWork.
List office(s) held and dates (.5 credit per position, up to 1 credit per year, maximum 3 credits)

3    Serving on an editorial review board or as an expert reviewer for an industry journal such as WorldatWork Journal or other publications approved by WorldatWork.
List review activities and dates. (.5 credit per year)

4    Sharing (generic, non-proprietary) examples of documents that illustrate best practices (e.g., sample plan documents, HR policies, job descriptions, forms, white papers, etc.) in a forum that allows other members of the profession to benefit. (See Community Job Tools in the Library section of the WorldatWork member Web site for information on sharing via WorldatWork).
List document submissions and dates (One submission/document=.5 credit, maximum 1 credit)

5    Sharing knowledge and best practices through participation in compensation, benefits, work-life or rewards-related benchmarking surveys (e.g., salary budget surveys, total rewards practices surveys) sponsored by WorldatWork.
Survey names and years. (One survey=.5 credit, maximum 1 credit)

6    Sharing knowledge and best practices through participation in compensation, benefits, work-life or rewards-related benchmarking surveys or focus groups (e.g., salary surveys, benefits surveys) sponsored by WorldatWork or other organizations.
List survey/focus group names and dates. (One survey/focus group=.5 credit, maximum 1 credit)
