LOCATION: Currently - Port of Portland, 121 NW Everett Street, Portland
(Office move is scheduled for April 2010)
Beginning April 2010 – Portland International Airport
HOURS: Generally, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday - Friday
POSITION OBJECTIVES:
§ Act as primary contact to Port management and staff on compensation questions/concerns/issues related to the administrative program to include base salary, incentive plan, and performance management administration.
§ Conduct analysis of survey data, develop and present recommendations for classification and/or grade alignment consistent with the Port’s stated program commitments and business context. Responsible for the hands-on management of the Administrative Annual Review, ensuring the process and associated events flow without problems.
§ Review and approve transfers, promotions, and temporary assignments. Conduct periodic compensation related reviews for internal equity, determine FLSA status of jobs and conduct related regulatory audits. Develop and provide routine reporting on all associated compensation programs.
§ Responsible for the Port’s library of compensation salary surveys. Verify match information with managers, as needed, to ensure appropriate submission of Port data. Compile information for input to our on-going survey set, in addition to reviewing and responding to a high level of ad hoc requests for data from outside organizations.
§ Provide analysis support to the benefits function. Complete benefit audits and studies in order to maintain regulatory compliance and assure up to date business processes are being utilized. Research benefit plan design best practices and make recommendations for future changes. Prepare benefit related reports for management decision making.
§ Responsible for design and administration of the Port’s Employee Recognition Programs.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
§ Demonstrated ability to deliver support to all levels of management regarding compensation programs. Conduct analysis, draw conclusions, and formulate recommendations within established program parameters
§ Excellent oral and communication skills, including documentation of program and systems-related issues and delivering training.
§ Demonstrated proficiency in working with IT systems and reports for administering and managing program components
§ Demonstrated ability to respond to multiple demands, prioritizing work to ensure timely delivery of services or renegotiation of due dates.
§ Advanced knowledge of: MS Excel for data management and manipulation, including experience creating pivot tables and v-lookups.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
§ Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or related field (preferred).
§ Consultant II: Two to four years progressively-more-responsible compensation experience directly related to the accountabilities of the position (required).
§ Consultant III: Five to eight years progressively-more-responsible compensation experience directly related to the accountabilities of the position (required).
§ Experience with benefit program design and administration (preferred), or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
§ Ability to work successfully with limited direction and oversight.
§ Advanced oral and written communication skills.
§ Able to prepare and present effective presentations to various audiences.
§ Advanced computer skills and knowledge of MS Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint are required.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
§ CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) credential preferred.
§ PHR/SPHR certification a plus.
