Scholarships

CWCG sponsors two scholarship options to promote Total Rewards professions in Portland and SW Washington Human Resources community - a Professional Scholarship and Student Scholarship. 

Professional Scholarship

The scholarship opportunities for the CWCG professional members now includes various courses and events, which are below.

Scholarship Options - choose only one selection

  • Registration to attend one WorldatWork course sponsored through CWCG in 2019. Courses in 2019 are: March – C2/GR3 Job Analysis; May – B3A Health & Welfare Plans; Sept – GR7 International Remuneration; Oct – C17/GR17 Market Pricing

  • Registration for one online or e-Learning WorldatWork course in 2019 up to a maximum of $1,500.

  • A subsidy of up to $1,500 toward the registration cost for the 2019 WorldatWork conference. (Excludes travel, meals, hotel, or airfare)

CWCG will award one scholarship each calendar year (dependent on funding). 

Application Eligibility and Selection Criteria

To be considered, applicants must:

  • Be a current CWCG member who is actively pursuing certification.  Not a CWCG member?  CLICK HERE TO JOIN NOW.
  • Complete and submit the Scholarship Application according to the instructions by November 27, 2018.
  • Include any supporting documentation, such as a resume or professional work examples.
  • In order to be congruent with the goal of promoting certification in the Portland/SW Washington area, scholarship recipients must take the certification exam associated with their certification course.

The CWCG Board of Directors/Scholarship Committee will select the scholarship recipients. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Special consideration will be given to applicants whose organizations provide no, or very little, financial support for certification.

Student Scholarship

CWCG is proud to award a $1,000 scholarship to a student with a desire to pursue a career in the Compensation, Benefits, and/or Total Rewards fields.  

CWCG is accepting 2018 Student Scholarship applications beginning January 1, 2018.  The deadline for receipt of all applications and supporting documents is March 30, 2018.  Instructions on where to submit your application can be found on the scholarship application (link below).

Application Eligibility and Selection Criteria

To be considered, students must:

  • Be currently enrolled in a Business or HR-related degree program at an accredited college or university;
  • Have a GPA of 2.75 or higher;
  • Complete and submit the scholarship application;
  • Submit current transcripts; and
  • Provide other supporting documentation for your application, such as: resume, list of organizations affiliated with, and/or examples of applicable academic projects or professional work.


Student applicants will be evaluated based on academic achievements, GPA, and the desire to pursue a career in the Compensation, Benefits and Total Rewards professions.  Students may only submit one application per academic year, and are eligible for a lifetime maximum of two scholarships.   The awarding or non-awarding of scholarships is at the discretion of the CWCG scholarship committee.
