Scholarships

CWCG sponsors two scholarship options to promote Total Rewards professions in Portland and SW Washington Human Resources community - a Professional Scholarship and Student Scholarship.

Professional Scholarship

The professional scholarship encourages certification through WorldatWork.  CWCG members actively pursuing one or more of the following WorldatWork certifications may apply for a professional certification course scholarship:

CCP – Certified Compensation Professional
ACCP – Advanced Certified Compensation Professional
MCCP – Master Certified Compensation Professional
CBP – Certified Benefits Professional

CSCP – Certified Sales Comp. Professional
CECP – Certified Executive Comp. Professional
GRP – Global Remuneration Professional
WLCP - Work-Life Certified Professional

The amount awarded will cover one WorldatWork course, sponsored locally by CWCG, and the associated exam or self-study. The scholarship will be awarded as a registration check sent directly to WorldatWork.  Awards are considered taxable to the recipients and CWCG will issue a 1099 to award recipients.

CWCG will award one scholarship each calendar year (dependent on funding). The scholarship will cover the cost of the course and exam only – optional training courses and travel are not included. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the CWCG Board of Directors/Scholarship Committee.

Application Eligibility and Selection Criteria

To be considered, applicants must:

  • Be a current CWCG member who is actively pursuing certification.  Not a CWCG member?  CLICK HERE TO JOIN NOW.
  • Complete the Scholarship Application (made available each October).
  • Include any supporting documentation, such as a resume or professional work examples.
  • In order to be congruent with the goal of promoting certification in the Portland/SW Washington area, scholarship recipients must take the certification exam associated with their certification course.

The CWCG Board of Directors/Scholarship Committee will select the scholarship recipients. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Special consideration will be given to applicants whose organizations provide no, or very little, financial support for certification

Student Scholarship

CWCG is proud to award a scholarship to a currently-enrolled college student with a desire to pursue a career in the Total Rewards field.  The recipient of this scholarship will receive $1,000 for direct college expenses.

Application Eligibility and Selection Criteria

To be considered, students must:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited university located in Oregon or Southwest Washington;
  • Complete and submit the scholarship application by the established deadline (application window approximately October-November each year); and
  • Submit current transcripts.
  • OPTIONAL:  Provide other supporting documentation for your application, such as: resume, list of organizations affiliated with, and/or examples of applicable academic projects or professional work.
Student applicants will be evaluated based on academic achievements, GPA, and the desire to pursue a career in the Compensation, Benefits and Total Rewards professions.  Students may only submit one application per academic year and are eligible for a lifetime maximum of two scholarships.

Conditions of the Scholarship

The scholarship funds must be used towards college tuition, books, or conferences related to the field of Human Resources (specifically Compensation, Benefits and Total Rewards).
